Qigong

Qigong is a movement meditation developed in China over five thousand years ago and continues to be practiced around the world to this day. It is a grounding and strengthening practice connecting us with nature, which looks to move your focus from mind to breath. It involves using simple, graceful and flowing movements, and means ‘energy exercise.’ The class will begin with a gentle warm up of the body, followed by the teaching and flow of the movements.

For the day:

  • No special equipment required; no weights, no lycra
  • Can be done seated or standing
  • No sitting, chanting or difficult poses will be involved
  • Beginners and +18 ages are warmly welcomed
  • Only loose comfortable clothing required

Sound Bath

Sound is vibration, and as vibrations travel through the body they promote circulation, energy flow, and rejuvenation. This allows for deep relaxation and calm within the body, and enables the mind to be still. The sound bath experience will include soothing full moon Tibetan singing bowls and chimes.

For the day:

  • If participants would like to lie down during the session, please bring a yoga mat - otherwise you can participate seated and chairs will be provided.
  • Participants welcome to bring a pillow or eye mask (optional)

Important points to note:

  • This is a FREE event for women, trans, non-binary and genderqueer people of ESEA heritage.
  • This event is for people aged 18+.
  • All activities are optional, if you are not comfortable participating that is   welcome too
  • Please bring a yoga mat if you would like to participate and lie down during the sound bath session (although it is also fine to sit on a chair).
  • Tea, coffee, water and some snacks will be available.
  • There will be photography and videography taking place that may be used by ESEA Sisters and organisations/individuals involved in the event for future marketing including social media. Please let us know at registration if you have questions/concerns.
