Winter Decorations at the Museum
Join us to decorate the Museum as a place of warmth, wonder, colour and joy for all this winter | From 22 November 2022

What's on
This year, we’ve committed to making our Winter Festival as sustainable as possible, bringing out the colourful decorations we used last winter, upcycling materials our curators have found around the Museum to create a beautiful Winter Wonderland featuring a (warm and dry) snow storm, while we will bring in real greenery from our own gardens. We’ll have two real Christmas trees, sustainably grown, which will be chipped and recycled after the festival.

Highlights
- A large, real Christmas tree in our welcome area, resplendent with our reused rainbow decorations, winter music playing and snow on the windows.
- A Winter Wonderland in our Families Area and snow storm made of recycled materials, a real Christmas tree with white and silver decorations and winter-themed storybooks in our cosy reading corner – to which families can add self-guided craft activities.
- The Museum’s Head Gardener Heather will lead her annual winter greenery and wreath-making workshop on Sunday 11 December, leading visitors in creating their own real greenery winter decorations to adorn their own home.
- Visitors attending the Museum’s Hanukkah Family Celebration Day on Sunday 18 December 2022 can make their own snowflake to add to the snow storm among other craft activities. They will decorate and eat Hanukkah donuts, join curator talks and tours about the cultural celebrations being celebrated, and much more.
